System update for customer type and point calculation

Why we have new update?​

Customer purchased via POS or the single sign-on on online store treated as Guest in our app so these customer cannot earn point event though they can redeem point at POS and logging in via single sign-on without an account.

In order to solve the problem, we need to allow customers to configure allowing guest member to earn points or not.

Current workflow​

After your install the app, customers from Shopify will be automatically synchronized to the app under Member and Guest type

  • Member: Existing customers who have logged into their account on your online store. They can receive points from all reward programs setup in Joy app.

  • Guest: Existing customers who have not logged into their account on your online store. They can not receive points from all reward programs setup in Joy app untill they log into their account and become Member.

New workflow​

After your install the app, customers from Shopify will be automatically synchronized to the app under Member type only

  • Existing customers who logged into their account on online store can recieve points from all available reward programs setup in Joy app.

  • For those who have not logged into their account on online store can only receive reward points from Place Orders reward program.

What happens if you adapt the new update?​

Once you excute the update, the system will

  • For previous customers before the update

    • Change customer type from Guest to Member

    • Update their points according to the reward programs they have registered

  • For new customers after the update:

    • Existing customers who logged into their account on online store can recieve points from all available reward programs

    • For those who have not logged into their account on online store can only receive reward points from Place Order program

How to update new workflow​

There are 2 ways to implement the new update

  • Method 1: Update from Customer tab

Access Customers > Click on Update button on notification banner > Confirm

  • Method 2: Update from Settings tab

Access Settings > General > Click on Update now button on System update card > Confirm
