Introduction​

Hello there! We're absolutely delighted to assist you in setting up promotional programs on your platform. Sometimes, you might want to provide your customers with the opportunity to combine different discount codes. We're here to guide you through this process in a simple, friendly, and understandable manner. So, let's jump right in!

How Discount combinations work​

There might be instances where you want to offer your customers the chance to stack different discounts together. You have the option to choose from eligible combinations that allow your customers to benefit from the best possible total discount based on their cart. You can set up both automatic discounts and discount codes to combine.

Each discount that you create belongs to one of the following categories, depending on what the discount applies to:

• Order discount

• Product discount

• Shipping discount

When you decide to let a discount combine with other discounts, you choose which categories of discounts it can combine with. For instance, if you create a discount code for 10% off an order, you can choose to let that discount code be combined with Product discount codes as well.

Multiple order discounts, product discounts, and shipping discounts can all apply to the same order. You can learn more about how different discounts combine. In some situations, when there are active automatic discounts on your store, and a customer also uses one or more discount codes, the best discount or combination of discounts automatically applies to the customer's cart.

If a customer enters more than one discount code during checkout that can't be combined, they'll see this message: "Discount couldn't be used with your existing discounts."

Types of Discounts​

You can offer three types of discounts:

• Order discount

• Product discount

• Shipping discount

You can combine these discounts in the following ways:

General settings​

Let's go through the steps to set up discount code combinations:

Step 1: Go to Redeem Programs​

Please start by visiting the Joy Loyalty app, select 'Rewards program' from the navigation menu, and then click on 'Redeem Programs’ on your left menu. This will take you to the place where you can manage your discount programs.

Step 2: Add any discount method​

In this example, we're going to add a “Discount amount” method. This is just one of the many options you have.

Step 3: Choose discount combination methods​

Under 'Combinations', you'll find the 3 discount methods, which are ‘Order Discount’, 'Shipping Discounts' and ‘Product Discount’.

Check all three to make your discount compatible with all discount methods.

Discount combination limit​

Only 1 discount per product​

If your customer applies 2 product discounts on the same product, Shopify will automatically select the most beneficial discount for your customer.

Only 1 shipping discount per order​

Please note that your customers can only apply one shipping discount per order. This ensures fair use and maintains the integrity of your discount system.
