Introduction

Encouraging customers to submit reviews is a great way to build trust and showcase user-generated content. By offering rewards for submitting a review, you can incentivize customers to share their feedback while growing your loyalty program. In this guide, we'll walk you through how to set up and manage the Review rewards program, making it easy for your customers to earn points for sharing their experience.

How it works

Customers can earn a fixed amount of points for submitting a review. This process requires integration with a supported review app (Air reviews, Fera reviews, JudgeMe, and Yotpo). Once a review is submitted through the connected app, you'll need to approve the review before the points are issued to the customer. This ensures that only valid reviews are rewarded, keeping your loyalty program fair and effective.

Setup your review program

Create your program

From the Rewards programs page, if you are already on the Pro plan or above, you are good to create the reviews program.

Name your program

The program name appears on your widget and loyalty page. Since it’s not a fixed string, it cannot be included in the translation page. If your store operates in a single language, you can name the program in that language. If you’re using multiple languages and are on the Advanced plan, the name will be translated automatically using our translation feature.

Choose amount of points

For this program, you can only offer a fixed number of points to customers for submitting reviews. However, if you want to add more flexibility, consider offering extra points for reviews that include media, such as photos or videos. These types of reviews greatly enhance your store’s credibility and customer trust, making it worth rewarding them with higher points.

The extra points for media reviews is only available on the Advanced plan.

Throttle the program

The final step would be to limit the number of times each customer can redeem for an interval of time. You can limit x time(s) for every hour, or day. month, year, or once in a lifetime.

Managing the reviews

After setting up and launching the review program, customers can now begin to submit reviews, and you can manage them easily. As an admin, you have full control over which reviews are approved or disapproved.

On the left menu, please select Activities > Reviews activities > View all reviews activities. Here, you'll find all the reviews written by your customers. As an admin, you can read these reviews and decide whether they are acceptable or not by choosing either the 'approved' or 'disapproved' option.

Once a review is approved, your customers will receive reward points issued to their balance. However, if a review is disapproved, no points will be added to the customer's balance.

How to configure automatic or manual approval for reviews​

This setting within our Joy: Loyalty Program app will help you to approve reviews either automatically or manually. To access this setting, please go to Settings > General > Default status for review.

The default status for reviews: Here, you can select either 'Pending' or 'Approve', then click 'Save'. This will configure your preference for automatic or manual review approval.

  • Pending: With this setting, the admin needs to manually approve reviews before customers can receive reward points.

  • Approval: With this setting, customers will receive points immediately after submitting their reviews.
