Notifications
Bring shoppers back to the items they saved with automatic alerts: Back in stock, Price drop, Wishlist reminder and Low stock.
What Notifications does
Shoppers save items, then forget to check back. Notifications alerts them automatically when something changes on a saved item, so the sale isn't lost.
You choose which alerts to send and which products they cover. Joy Wishlist then finds the shoppers who saved those products and emails each of them at the time you set.
- No extra email app: Joy Wishlist sends alerts with its own built-in email. If you already use a marketing app such as Klaviyo or Omnisend (coming soon), you can send them from there instead.
- One email, not many: items that come back at the same time are grouped into one email per shopper.
- Sent in the shopper's local time: with a daily send time, each shopper gets the email at that time where they live.
- Off by default: no alerts go out until you turn one on and save.
Alert types
Joy Wishlist has four alert types. Back in stock is available now, and the others are coming soon.
| Alert | Sent when | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Back in stock | A saved item is back in stock | Available now |
| Price drop | A saved item drops in price | Coming soon |
| Wishlist reminder | Saved items have been sitting in a wishlist for a while | Coming soon |
| Low stock | A saved item is running low on stock | Coming soon |
Each alert has its own trigger, email and on/off switch.
How an alert reaches a shopper
- A shopper saves an item to their wishlist, or clicks Notify me on a sold-out product.
- Something changes on that item. For Back in stock, it becomes available again.
- Joy Wishlist finds who should hear about it: shoppers who saved a matching item, have an email, and agreed to receive emails.
- Items that come back at the same time are grouped into one email per shopper.
- The email goes out on your send schedule, with a button back to your store. Right before sending, Joy Wishlist checks the item again and skips the alert if it has sold out again.
With Joy Loyalty, the same alert can also go to the shopper's Apple Wallet or Google Wallet pass.

How setup works
Everything is on one page. From your Shopify admin, go to Apps > Joy Wishlist > Settings, then open the Notifications tab.
The page has four numbered steps. Three of them apply to every alert, so you set them once.
| Step on the page | What you do | Applies to |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Choose a sending method | Pick Joy Wishlist built-in email or a marketing app. You can also add Wallet pass. | Every alert |
| 2. Notification types | Open an alert, set it up, customize its email, and turn it on. | That alert |
| 3. Send schedule | Send at a set time each day, or immediately. | Every alert |
| 4. Sender details | Choose who the email comes from. | Every alert |
The defaults are ready to use: built-in email, one send a day at 10:00 in each shopper's local time, and the default sender. So the shortest path is to open Back in stock, turn it on, and save.
Start with Back in stock alert. That page takes you through the whole setup, from choosing a sending method to testing the alert.
