Place Order Rewards are a key component of your loyalty program, rewarding customers every time they make a purchase. This not only incentivizes repeat purchases but also helps build long-term loyalty by offering something extra each time a customer places an order.
You can customize these rewards to align with your business goals. Customers can earn a fixed amount of points for each order, or you can set up a dynamic system where the points are based on the order value. Additionally, you have the flexibility to trigger these rewards either after the order is paid or once it’s fulfilled, depending on your preference.
Access your Place order program
From our app, go to Reward programs > Earning programs
to access the list of programs, in which you will find a default Place order program that we created. You can also have more than 1 Place order program.
The program name appears on your widget and loyalty page. Since it’s not a fixed string, it cannot be included in the translation page. If your store operates in a single language, you can name the program in that language. If you’re using multiple languages and are on the Advanced plan, the name will be translated automatically using our translation feature.
Choose your reward method
When setting up Place Order rewards, you can choose how customers earn points:
Based on Customer Spending Amount: Each time a customer makes a purchase, they earn points proportional to the amount they spend. For example, you can set a rule where customers earn 1 point for every dollar spent. This method encourages higher spending by rewarding customers more for larger orders.
Fixed Points Per Order: Alternatively, you can offer a fixed number of points for every order, regardless of the amount spent. This method is straightforward and ensures customers are rewarded equally for each purchase.
When setting up your Place Order rewards, you might want to exclude certain items or order types from earning points. For example, you can choose to exclude gift cards, sale items, or wholesale orders. It’s easy to set these conditions—just select which products or collections you want to include or exclude. You can also use Shopify tags to make sure specific order types, like wholesale orders, are handled according to your preferences.
When using the condition builder to target specific product groups, it’s important to carefully consider the logic you want to apply with the AND and OR operators. A common mistake occurs when combining two negative conditions, especially when deciding whether to use "All" or "Any" conditions.
If you mistakenly use the "Any" condition, it could end up allowing all products to qualify. For example, if you set a condition where a product should not contain a string like "Something that no match" (which is almost always true), it could bypass the Sale collection condition, making the product eligible for the Place Order program when it shouldn’t.
Make sure to use the correct logic to ensure that your conditions work as intended.
By default, this option will be set to On. You can control whether customer balance will be deducted on the refund or cancellation of an order.
In our app, guest customers are not eligible to earn rewards for any activities. As mentioned earlier here, the new customer account mode classifies all customers as guests because it doesn’t create a full account in your Shopify store. This means that at the beginning, you’ll only have the customer’s email, with no additional information like their name.
If your goal is to treat everyone in your customer base equally, this mode may be the right choice, as it simplifies customer management by focusing on email-only interactions.
The same as Shopify, we will work with the store's main currency which works in your Shopify admin. All the processing inside Shopify works with your store's main currency. All will be converted to the main currency and then the reward rate will be implemented to this total amount.
If you choose the reward customer on the amount they spent as below, then it is: no, they are not. We will only add up the total price of the products matching the conditions (you can whitelist some of the products out of the program) in the order.
In the settings, you can change this behavior. By default, it will issue the points once the order is paid or marked as paid. You can also change it to Fulfilled
to make sure that you can manually qualify the order and reward it once it is processed.
