Introduction

Migrating from Smile.io to Joy Loyalty allows you to seamlessly transition your loyalty program, preserving essential customer data such as VIP tiers and point balances. This guide will walk you through the migration process to ensure your data transfers correctly.

Which Customer Data Can Joy Migrate?

Joy Loyalty supports the migration of key customer data, including:

  • Customer Name: Full name of the customer.

  • VIP Tier Name: The customer’s rank tier in your loyalty program.

  • Birth Date: The customer’s birthday.

  • Points Balance: The current points balance the customer holds.

  • Email: The customer’s email address.

What do you need to prepare for the migration?

File format

You need to prepare a CSV file containing the list of your store's loyal customers. This file should include all the information fields you want to migrate.

Note: If the customer list exported from the loyalty program managed by Smile is missing the VIP tier field, you can contact Smile's team for support in exporting the customer file with all necessary fields.

How to Migrate

Step 1: Open the Joy Loyalty app → navigate to the Settings→ choose Migration.

Step 2: In the migration section, select Migrate my loyalty program from: Smile.io.

Step 3: Choose the types of customer data you want to migrate, and upload your loyalty customer data file.

Important Note: To ensure a smooth migration, ensure the column headers in your file match the following format:

  • Customer Name: The customer's full name.

  • VIP Tier Name: The customer’s loyalty rank.

  • Points Balance: The customer’s current points.

  • Email: The customer’s email address.

If the headers do not match exactly, you'll need to rename them before the migration can proceed.

Step 4: Wait for your customer loyalty data to be uploaded. Once uploaded, review the data to check:

  • Successful Imports: Number of customers successfully migrated.

  • Failed Imports: Number of customers not migrated due to errors.

To resolve failed imports, download the failed_import file, make corrections, and upload the file again for review.

How to handle file errors and fix values for re-uploading

After Joy Loyalty reads your file and reports the number of successful and failed customer imports, follow these steps to ensure no customers are missed:

  1. Download the processed file from the FailedImports section.

  2. Open the file (a spreadsheet) and apply a filter on the Status column to display only the failed customers.

  3. Review the error messages and correct the failed values.

  4. Re-upload the corrected file and review the data again to ensure all customers are successfully imported.

Step 5: If you are not migrating VIP Tiers, you can proceed immediately. If you are migrating VIP Tiers, review and ensure the tiers have transferred correctly, and set up the new tier rules in Joy Loyalty.

Step 6: Wait for the migration process to complete.

While waiting for your migration to complete, you can explore the following features of Joy to optimize your store’s loyalty program.

Step 7: Review your migrated customer loyalty data in the Customer section to ensure everything has transferred correctly.
